MAKE AND DO

Em geral,




1 MAKE transmite a ideia de criar, construir, fabricar ou produzir algo (que ainda não existe):

I am making a cake.

Estou a fazer um bolo.



They make toys.

Eles fabricam brinquedos.



They make roads every day.

Eles constroem estradas todos os dias.



He is making dinner.

Ele está a fazer o jantar.





2 DO sugere empenhamento numa actividade não especificada:

What are you doing?

O que estás a fazer?



Why don't you do something?

Por que não fazes alguma coisa?



I am not doing anything.

Não estou a fazer nada.



I am doing nothing.

Não estou a fazer nada.





3 DO pode também sugerir empenhamento numa actividade mais ou menos prolongada ou repetida:

I'll be doing the shopping tomorrow morning.

Estarei a fazer compras amanhã de manhã.



I hate doing the ironing.

Detesto passar roupa a ferro.



I occasionally do some cooking.

De vez em quando cozinho.



She does quite a lot of reading.

Ela lê bastante.
